If you have little dinosaur lovers in the house, they will love creating this super easy Dinosaur Tracks Table Runner! Use it for a special Shabbatasaurus (dinosaur-themed Shabbat), a birthday party, or any day. Because we all know that a day with dinosaurs is a pretty good day!
What You’ll Need
- 2 T-shirts. Yes! This is another t-shirt craft! I love them. If you don’t have, or don’t want to use, t-shirts that’s fine. Just use some cloth instead!
- Acrylic Paint
- Cardboard piece (put all those Amazon boxes to good use!)
- Paint brush
- Scissors
- Sewing machine and thread (we just recently purchased a sewing machine to replace the one I received as a wedding gift–10 years ago! We love it!)
Putting It Together
1.Cut a straight line from under the armpit on one side to the bottom hem on each t-shirt. Next, make a horizontal cut all the way across just below the armpits. This will give you one large rectangle from each t-shirt.
2. Sew the two t-shirt rectangles together along the shorter cut (the one from under the armpits), pretty sides facing together. This will give you one long rectangle piece.
3. Hem all sides of the rectangle, if you desire. You can always leave them unhemmed if you’d like!
4. Cut out a dinosaur track from cardboard. I just free cut it, making a track that looks kind of like a bird foot. You can always search online for a track that you like, print it, then trace and cut it. This will be your dino track stamp.
5. Squirt your desired acrylic paint onto a paint palette or paper plate.
6. Brush your cardboard dino track with paint.
7. Firmly press your dino track stamp onto your cloth.
8. Repeat the painting of the stamp and pressing it onto your fabric as often as you’d like. We made ours about 3 inches apart, in a walking fashion.
9. Let the paint dry and then it will be ready to use!
Finished and Loving It!
Each of my big kids stamped one of the rectangles before I sewed them together. It was important to them to create their “own” rectangle.
They were so excited about the dinosaur tracks! I thought the project turned out super cute and we all enjoyed using it for our special Shabbatasaurus. We are also for sure saving it for the next dinosaur birthday party we have!
