We had such a blast creating this Squirt Bottle Bonfire to celebrate Lag Ba’Omer! Fine motor skills, hand muscle development, process art and a cool Lag Ba’Omer decoration afterwards? Yes please!
What You’ll Need
- Sheet of craft paper or poster board
- Brown acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Orange, yellow and red washable paint
- Condiment squirt bottles (Dollar Tree has them!)
- Water
- Tape
Putting It Together
- Paint some logs in a bonfire shape at the bottom of the craft paper or poster board with the brown acrylic paint. Let dry.
- Tape your craft paper sheet or poster board someplace outside where a little washable paint won’t damage anything.
- Add the orange, yellow and red washable paint to separate condiment squirt bottles. Add some water; close and shake to mix together.
- Invite your kids to squeeze the condiment squirt bottles and create the bonfire flames on the craft paper.
- Let dry and use as a Lag Ba’Omer decoration!
Finished & Loving It!
I had this vision in my head and it was so cool to see it come to life! The kids absolutely loved this process art activity. It took some muscle work to squeeze the bottles and have the paint squirt out. Then we got to watch the paint create the flames by squirting on the paper and dripping down.
The kids squeezed and created however they wished. Yay for process art! They took turns passing the bottles around and were so excited to see what happened when they squeezed and the paint hit the paper!
I especially love the dripping effect as the paint dripped down. It was so much fun to watch and it served as an excellent Lag Ba’Omer decoration once it dried!
Chag Sameach!
We have a whole page dedicated to Lag Ba’Omer, our Lag Ba’Omer Hub. Check it out! It includes some of the Lag Ba’Omer activities we plan to do this year, as well as the activities we’ve done in previous years.
And don’t forget our Lag Ba’Omer Montessori-Style 3 Part Cards, a wonderful way to introduce Lag Ba’Omer! And, now we also have all 13 Jewish holidays bundled together in A Year of Jewish Holidays 3 Part Cards.
