Almost every week in Sunday school we study a Torah story. We spent two sessions learning about how Eliezer found a wife for Isaac. Our first week focused on a fun skit and cardboard jewelry making, which the kids loved! The second week was a review in the form of a coloring book! What?! That’s right, I made a very simple coloring book that described the story of Eliezer finding a wife for Isaac. This story focuses on why Rebecca turns out to be different from other women. Her kindness to animals is what makes her stand out as special.
My own children each requested the coloring book to print out and color themselves. I then used one of their books as the introduction story to my class’ lesson for that week. My students were really interested in the book and wanted their own version. I was happy to email the pdf to their parents so everyone could have fun coloring while reviewing this torah story.
Sweet & Simple Coloring & Story Book
Print out the coloring book here and let your children or students enjoy bringing the story to life through their coloring! It’s a fun way for them to engage with the story. And it’s always a neat way to review telling the story. We all know children appreciate hearing stories multiple times in multiple ways 🙂
Discussion Questions
After reading the story, or working on the coloring book, you can also ask the children the following discussion questions:
- Why does Eliezer choose Rivkah to be Isaac’s wife?
- How does Rivkah show kindness to people and animals?
These discussion questions can make the activity more meaningful and help direct the children to think about the importance of having compassion for animals.
