We love the super easy to make, customize, set up and do poke a dots that my son’s preschool teacher introduced to us and the Hamantaschen Poke the Dots activity we did today was absolutely perfect! I loved watching that look of concentration and focus on his face and seeing how easily it now is for him to grip and maneuver the push pin—such a wonderful way to practice the pincher grip and develop those muscles and skills for pre-writing!

Finished & Loving It!
My kiddo is now used to these poke the dot activities because he does them at school and at home. So he knew exactly what to do and got straight to work!
Since I’ve been observing him do these activities this past year I can see how he’s now more comfortable holding the push pin and his hand doesn’t get as tired–he could do the entire picture today! If your kiddo is not quite there yet, that’s totally fine, this is such an easy activity to work on, then set aside to finish later if your child gets tired. And their little hands do get tired! One of the reasons we do fine motor skills activities like this is to increase that hand strength so that they can do fine motor activities, like writing, for longer periods of time. Before they can write, they need to develop those muscles, grip and skills!
After he finished we hung up the Hamantaschen Poke the Dots on our sliding door so the sun could shine through the dots–a fun little Purim decoration!
I really love how this Hamantaschen Poke the Dots is such a super easy, fun and meaningful Purim fine motor skills learning experience!! I hope you enjoy it too!
