This Hanukkiah Tape Match Scavenger Hunt is such a simple set up and the best part: not only did my kids race around the house to complete the activity, once it was finished, they asked to do it again! A total win! This activity would work great at home or in the classroom and can easily be paired with a favorite Hanukkah book or more focused hanukkiah exploration.

What You’ll Need
- Poster board or large paper
- Different color markers that match the colored tape you have
- Colored tape that match the colored markers you have
Putting It Together
- Draw a simple Hanukkiah using the different colored markers on your poster board. I used one color for the base and shamash, then 4 different colors for the candles, and a yellow marker for the candle flames.
- Rip off pieces of the colored tape and put them around your house.
- Hang up your Hanukkiah poster.
- Invite your kiddos to search for the colored tape, peel it off, then attach it to the correct color on the poster.

Finished & Loving It!
I set up this activity while the kids were at school. On the car drive home, I let them know to look for something different and a little silly when they got inside. They noticed the tape pretty quickly and dashed around to grab the bits even before their backpacks came off!

This was a fun activity for them, letting them race around the house, laughing as they did so. It also has a lot of practical developmentally appropriate skill practices: peeling the tape uses fine motor skills and pincer grasp, searching for the tape uses observational and awareness skills, and matching the colors is a great matching practice.

I only set up the tape in our downstairs so the activity (and chaos!) was contained. The poster has a place of honor in our front walkway so we can enjoy it every day! I love when activities can double as holiday decorations.

Looking for a sweet Hanukkah story that features the hanukkiah prominently? We love the story Light the Menorah by Jaqueline Jules. Cuddling to read this book after racing around enjoying the Hanukkiah Tape Match Scavenger Hunt is a great way to calm down and regulate after some energizing fun. And of course, review some important and special aspects of Hanukkah too!
