Bonfires are a special traditional way of celebrating the holiday of Lag Ba’Omer and these Lag Ba’Omer Foil Print Bonfires are such a fun and easy craft for your little ones to enjoy!
What You’ll Need
- Paper (cardstock would be sturdier with the wet paint, but we used printer paper and it worked just fine)
- Brown paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Foil
- Red, yellow and orange washable paint
- Paint tray
Putting It Together
- Cut your brown paper into strips. If you have a child that is working on cutting, or enjoys it, encourage them to help!
- Glue the paper strips at the bottom of your paper for the bonfire logs.
- Give your child a piece of foil. Have them crumple the foil into a ball.
- Put some of each color paint on a tray.
- Invite your child to press the foil ball into the paint, then stamp it on their paper to make the bonfire flames.
- Pair with a favorite Lag Ba’Omer book like our favorite, Sadie’s Lag Ba’Omer Mystery.
Finished & Loving It!
This is such a fun process art experience for the kids! And they create beautiful Lag Ba’Omer decorations as well!
Crumpling the foil is a great hand strengthening practice, as well as an atypical sensory experience. And we don’t often use foil for stamping so it felt new and fun for the kids as well.
I loved seeing how they approached this painting experience. Some were very particular not to mix the colors while others went all in and created a whole mix!
My preschooler only wanted to do very specific stamp movements so his flames look like little balls above the logs. But the others stamped all over the paper.
Each artwork was unique and they all had a fun time creating their Lag Ba’Omer Foil Print Bonfires!
We have a whole page dedicated to Lag Ba’Omer, our Lag Ba’Omer Hub. Check it out! It will include some of the Lag Ba’Omer activities we do this year, as well as the activities we’ve done in previous years.
And don’t forget our Lag Ba’Omer Montessori-Style 3 Part Cards, a wonderful way to introduce the holiday!
