These Purim Paper Doll Characters are so easy to make, thanks to the wonderful creators at Beyond the Balagan. And once you laminate them or enclose them in contact paper their uses for extended imaginary play are endless!
What You’ll Need
- Purim Puppets from Beyond the Balagan. You can also google “Purim characters coloring page” and print out your favorites.
- Cardstock
- Markers, crayons or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Contact Paper or lamination access
Putting It Together
1.Print out the Purim Puppets from Beyond the Balagan or whatever favorite Purim character coloring pages you find. We used the Purim Puppets from Beyond the Balagan last year and loved them so much we used them again this year! We actually kept some finished versions in our Purim holiday storage tub, but this year we made new ones to use in new and different fun ways.
2. Color your characters with crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
3. Cut out the characters.
4. Carefully place the characters between contact paper and smooth the paper over the characters. Then cut around the characters. This is the at-home cheap method. If you have access to a lamination machine, go ahead and use that! But the contact paper method works just fine as well. In either case, the paper characters become a lot more durable once they have that plastic over them.
Finished and Loving It!
Once the Purim Paper Doll Characters are finished, there are so many different ways to play. These dolls make an easy way to have children, or adults, tell the Purim story. This can be as a puppet show, or just in a simple spur-of-the-moment way.
We also use these Purim Paper Doll Characters in our Purim Sensory Bin. The plastic cover prevents them from getting bent and torn up in this play. It also allows the kids to have Purim characters they can use when playing with the other Purim symbols in the sensory bin.
I also plan to put together a Purim Contact Paper Storyboard and these Purim Paper Doll Characters will be perfect for this because they won’t stick forever to the storyboard and will be able to be reused, this year and in future years!
