Today we had lots of fun with a Hanukkah Rhymes and Song Activity that was quick to prep and should be easily accessible for all families.
What you’ll need
- Free Hanukkah Rhymes and Song Activity printable
- Scissors
- Laminator and laminate sheets or contact paper or popsicle sticks (optional). I have an inexpensive laminator and use it ALL THE TIME, I love it!
- Tape (optional)
Putting it together
1. Print out the Hanukkah Rhymes and Song Activity printable.
2. Cut out all pieces except for the first three pages of song and rhyme lyrics.
3. Leave as is or for a longer play life, laminate, cover in contact paper or glue to popsicle sticks.
4. Add tape loops to the back of each piece of you are attaching them to a display board.
5. Laminate or cover a piece of paper with contact paper if you’re using it as a display board.
6. Invite your kids to listen, participate, act out, and have fun while you read the rhymes and songs, following the cues in the lyrics and adding the pieces as directed.
Finished & Loving It!
Once I had my pieces ready, I invited my kids into the playroom and started going through the rhymes and songs with them. The kids totally got into it, singing along, guessing which color dreidel was hiding the gelt, and answering my Hanukkah review questions when I asked why each of the items was important to Hanukkah. Simple + fun + quick and easy Hanukkah review = yay!
The Hanukkah Rhymes and Song Activity worked especially well for my two middle kids. With my three year old who has a speech delay I wanted to work on identifying and pronouncing all the words of the objects. Another one of our speech therapy goals is identifying and matching colors which is why I made sure to have different colored dreidels.
We are also working on not just saying individual words but stringing them in a sentence so having him state which color dreidel he thought the gelt was hiding behind was a perfect opportunity to practice (more yays!).
Many of these songs also have counting in them so it makes for an easy and fun way to practice counting and one to one number correspondence.
My daughter was excited to read the songs and act them out herself. She’s going to make a great teacher someday!
Some of the rhymes and songs use the same objects so just mix and match as needed. And most of all, HAVE FUN!!
