Two years I made these Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats for easy holiday sensory play and we have been having fun playing with them each year since!
What You’ll Need
- Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats free printable
- Playdough–store bought or homemade, either is fine. I have a new honey playdough recipe that’s perfect if you (and the kids) want to make some delicious smelling playdough together!
Putting It Together
- Print out the Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats free printable.
- Laminate the mats so they don’t get ruined by the playdough. Don’t have a laminator? Use contact paper! (but I really love my laminator and you can find some for $20 online)
- Put out some playdough.
- Add Rosh Hashanah themed playdough play items, if you want. These could be apple and honey cookie cutters or check out my Rosh Hashanah Honey Playdough Loose Parts Play and Rosh Hashanah DIY Honeycomb and Bees Playdough Stamping posts for more ideas!
- Let your child practice making the words or the symbols of Rosh Hashanah on the mats, or have them enjoy them however they wish!
Finished & Loving It!
My kids had so much fun with these Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats last year! I only had one tiny apple cookie cutter π but guess what, my Halloween pumpkin ones worked just fine, just add a leaf π If you want more play ideas, check out my Rosh Hashanah Honey Playdough Loose Parts Play and Rosh Hashanah DIY Honeycomb and Bees Playdough Stamping posts!
Exploring the playdough with these Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats sets the stage nicely for some fun sensory (hands and also nose!) play. Playing with playdough strengthens little hands and we know it inspires lots of creativity too.
The Rosh Hashanah Playdough Mats work perfectly as a visual stimulant for the holiday, a wonderful way to review (or expose) some of the Rosh Hashanah symbols, and as a way for the bigger kids to practice their letters. Yay!
Remember, it often takes me awhile to get my activities up on the blog (too busy playing!). If you want to see what we’re doing in real time, check out our Instagram!
