We love introducing or reviewing a holiday by reading our favorite themed holiday books and this Tu B’Shevat Reading Bingo Challenge is the perfect way to enjoy reading along with a little play!
We made a Hanukkah Reading Bingo Challenge this past Hanukkah and it was such a huge hit that it will be our new tradition for each holiday this year, so make sure to check back and grab yours each time!
What You’ll Need
- Tu B’Shevat Reading Bingo Challenge free printable
- Space Markers—pen/pencil/crayon, stickers, or whatever other marker you’d like to use
- Tu B’Shevat books! Check out our favorites here! And if you don’t have a large collection of Tu B’Shevat books, that’s ok! Choose any books that involve trees and other plants. And make sure to sign up for PJ Library so these fabulous holiday books will soon arrive in your mailbox!
Putting it together
1. Print out the Tu B’Shevat Reading Bingo Challenge printable.
2. Start reading Tu B’Shevat books. Or any books with trees in them!
3. Mark off each space as you come across that item in a Tu B’Shevat book. To mark off the space, you can cross off the box, put a sticker on it or use whatever markers you want. Another decision you can make is whether the kids get to mark off multiple boxes from one book or if they can only mark off one box per book.
Finished & Loving It!
The kids were so excited to see the Tu B’Shevat Reading Bingo Challenge sheets come out since they had so much fun with the Hanukkah bingo challenge. This time they knew exactly what to do. We brought down our Tu B’Shevat Book Box, cuddled on the couch under some blankets, and started reading!
With multiple kids enrolled in PJ Library, we are lucky to have lots of Tu B’Shevat books. But I also pulled non-holiday books off our bookshelf and added to the box. Reading about mushrooms and flowers is also a lovely way to prepare for and celebrate Tu B’Shevat!
You might notice that one of the spaces challenges you to read under or near a real tree!! I was too cold to try that today but I hope there will be a day when we bundle up and try this adventure. My oldest couldn’t wait and went outside on his own and read a book by one of our trees. He really wanted to claim that space … guess I have competitive kids!
I hope you enjoy playing this Tu B’Shevat Reading Bingo Challenge while you read some sweet Tu B’Shevat books. I love how the challenge questions connect to the holiday itself, providing a little bit of review while having a great time!
